"O Solon, Solon, you Greeks are all children, and there is no such thing as an old Greek. 'What do you mean by that?' inquired Solon. 'You are all young in mind,' came the reply: 'you have no belief rooted in the old tradition, and no knowledge hoary with age...

Our records tell how your city checked a great power (the children of "Cain") which arrogantly advanced from its base in the Atlantic ocean to attack the cities of Europe and Asia. For in those days the Atlantic was navigable. There was an island (a continent), opposite the strait which you call (so you say) the Pillars of Hercules, an island larger than Libya and Asia combined; from it travelers in those days could reach the other islands, and from them the whole opposite continent which surrounds what can truly be called the ocean. For the sea within the strait we are talking about is like a lake with a narrow entrance; the outer ocean is the real ocean and the land which entirely surrounds it is properly termed continent. On this island of Atlantis had risen a powerful and remarkable dynasty of kings, who ruled the whole island, and many other islands as well and parts of the continent; in addition it controlled within the strait, Libya (Africa) up to the borders of Egypt and Europe as far as Tyrrhenia.

This dynasty, gathering its whole power together, attempted to enslave at a single stroke, your country and ours and all the territory within the strait… At a later time there was earthquakes and "floods" of extraordinary violence, and in a single dreadful day and night all your fighting men were swallowed up by the earth, and the island of Atlantis was similarly swallowed up by the sea and vanished; this is why the sea in that area is to this day impassable to navigation, which is hindered by mud just below the surface, the remains of a sunken island." And he said unto me, the Waters which thou sawest, where the whore (world religion) sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues...(Revelation 17:15).

But as the days of Noah were, so shall the coming of the Son of man be.

For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark.

Open the books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, in the Center of Europe, 1,000 years before the time of Christ. Open the apocryphal Wisdom of Solomon and Ecclesiasticus, and understand the great prophetic things that have come to pass over the last two thousand years of Western history. Come to America and open the Book of the Psalms of David.

...An immense golden figure of Poseidon driving SIX winged steeds dominated the temple's central court; statues of sea-nymphs gleamed from every shadowed crevice. (continued)...

Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen, and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, AND WITH THE KING AT JERUSALEM...

And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt A CHARIOT FOR SIX HUNDRED SHEKLES of silver, and an Horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means...(2 Chronicles 1:13-17).

...Wisely governed, the people of Atlantis lived in harmony. "For many generations," wrote Plato, "their hearts were true and in all ways noble, and they showed gentleness joined with wisdom...

A DREADFUL DAY OF RECKONING

At the height of Atlantis's glory...the imperial island could claim dominion over most of the Mediterranean. "Then above all," declared Plato, "they appeared to be superlatively fair and blessed." Yet he continued, THE ATLANTEANS WERE "FILLED WITH LAWLESS AMBITION AND POWER."...

(These are obviously the children of Cain, the ones with the Mark inscribed in their souls because of their love of warfare and violence...John 8:43,44; Genesis 4; Revelation 13:16-18. Please see the subchapter entitled Cain and Nimrod).

...Limitless luxury had taken its toll. No longer did the Atlanteans value goodness above material wealth...The Atlanteans, "unable to bear the burden of their possessions," had lost their virtue. And now they were massing armies to conquer Athens and parts east.

But Zeus, leader of the gods, delivered a blow of his own--a punishment that was unimaginably total. "There occurred portentous earthquakes and floods...and one grevious day and night befell them, when the island of Atlantis...was swallowed up by the sea and vanished...."The ocean at that spot," Plato wrote, "has now become impassable and unsearchable."

ATLANTIS: THE ETERNAL QUEST

However improbable they may appear, Edgar Cayce's chronicles of Atlantis cannot fail to fascinate. For the lost continent remains tightly woven into the fabric of human heritage, a land that has tantalized philosophers and poets, historians and schemers, scientists and explorers for more than two millennia, ever since the Greek philosopher Plato described it in his writings 355 years before the birth of Christ. The story of Atlantis has spoken to generation after generation about the power and wisdom of the ancients. IT IS A RECOLLECTION OF EDEN, OF A PARADISE RESTING NOW IN THE DRAGON-GREEN DEPTHS OF THE SEA. Human ambitions may vault beyond the earth to the moon and planets and even to the most distant stars, but memories of that wondrous continent still persist...

A Dragon? O yes, there it is.

...According to the Egyptians, the place that matched the ideas of Plato's "Republic" was none other than Athens. But it had been an Athens of a much earlier time (an original Athens). There Athena, THE GODDESS OF WISDOM, had established a City that would produce "men of the greatest wisdom" and courage. FOR BEYOND THE PILLARS OF HERCULES (The Straits of Gibraltar) there was a threatening island...that is, a continent equal in size to most of the "known" world in Plato's day. (continued)...

Now open the first nine chapters of the King James Version of the Book of Proverbs and (really) read all that the Goddess of Wisdom, Sophia of the Hebrews (the Athena of the Greeks), had to say on these ancient matters, and, of course, all that She has to say to us in our time:

Wisdom crieth without; She uttereth Her voice in the streets:

She crieth in the chief places of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city She uttereth Her words, saying,

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning (the scholars and intellectuals, who lead us in the paths of unknowingness, and the churchmen among them who lead us in the pathways of war and destruction), and fools hate knowledge?

Turn ye at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my Spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you...(Proverbs 1:20-23).

The Lord possessed me in the beginning of His way, before His works of old.

I was set up from everlasting, or ever the earth was.

When there were no depths, I was brought forth: when there were no fountains abounding with water.

Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth.

While as yet He had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.

WHEN HE PREPARED THE HEAVENS I WAS THERE...

He that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul; all they that hate me love death...(Proverbs 8:22-36).

...On the island continent, "a great and marvelous power" had arisen. This was Atlantis, and its kings had extended their influence well into the Mediterranean as far as...Egypt. The Atlanteans, in fact, were "arrogantly" seeking control of all the world. . Then the Athenian (Wisdom's) warriors defeated the armies of Atlantis in a great battle...

The distant memory of this great battle, preserved in the oral and written traditions that were handed down concerning it, allowed the Hebrew prophets and Merkabah mystics of the first century to project their thoughts full-circle into the future and to formulate their own visions of the last days. (Please see the subchapters entitled War and The Ways of Peace, and The Habakkuk Commentary):

And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon... (Revelation 16:13-16).

And I saw heaven opened, and behold a White Horse; and he (the Angel of Divine Presence, the invisible Commander of all the armies in the earth) that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

His eyes were as a flame of Fire, and on his head were Many Crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. (See chapter 7).

And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood (Isaiah 63:1-4): and his name is called The Word of God.

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

(Lift up the eyes to the spiritual reality of our own times. See the Angel of Presence risen up in ALL of the forces of the earth).

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations; and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

And he had on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS...

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army...(Revelation 19:11-19).

...But on the heels of this glorious victory came violent earthquakes and floods that...sank the entire continent of Atlantis under the sea, all in a devastating period of a day and a night. Such catastrophes, the Egyptian priest had informed Solon, were certainly common enough in the world. But the Greeks had lost the early records of their history...With that brief mention of an early war, Atlantis became a tantalizing part of the historical record...All in all, Plato took great pains to make his record of Atlantis seem credible to the readers of his time, and that tone of certainty has remained a challenge for more than 2,000 years...

...Today, of course, few people believe in Poseidon, the Greek sea-god, or in any of the rest of the Hellenic pantheon. But when Critias resumed his account of Atlantis, he quite naturally spoke in terms of divine origins. In the earlist times, he explained, when the gods were dividing the earth among themselves (understand 2 Corinthians 8:1-7), Poseidon chose the fair and bounteous continent and subsidiary islands that would come to be known as Atlantis. There with a woman named Cleito, he sired Five sets of Twin Sons (count Ten Sefirot); the firstborn child was Atlas, for whom the continent and surrounding ocean were named...

It was not long before Atlantis--gifted with wealth, strength, and internal harmony--began to extend its power outward..."Human nature," Critias reported, "got the upper hand." The Atlaneans began to exibit less seemly qualities: UNCURBED AMBITION, GREED AND UGLINESS GREW AMONG THE CITIZENS AND THEIR RULERS AS WELL. Critias said, Zeus summoned the gods to determine what punishment to afflict on Atlantis. "And when he had called them together he spoke as follows:

And this is where Critias breaks off. For unknown reasons, Plato ended his chronicle of Atlantis before he had given the details...of the war with the Athenians and the terrible earthquakes and floods that sank the once-blessed continent into the depths of the sea...

And he answered them, and said, Measure thou the time diligently...and when thou seest part of the signs past, which I told you before, then shalt thou understand, that it is the very time wherein the Highest will begin to visit the world which he made.

Therefore, when there shall be seen earthquakes and uproars of people in the world,

Then shalt thou well understand that the Most High spake of these things from the days that were before thee, even from the beginning.

For like that which is made, all in the world hath a beginning and an end, and the end is manifest,

Even so the times of the Highest have plain beginnings in wonders and powerful works, and endings in effects and signs...(2 Esdras 9:1-6).

...Despite Plato's best efforts to make Atlantis seem real, his descriptive account was soon the subject of controversy. Even his student Aristotle claimed that Plato had fabricated the Atlantis story and contrived the continent's catastrophic demise as a literary convenience. (We will recall that Aristotle was also a mentor of one of the great archetypal antichrists of those times, Alexander the Great). For many centuries thereafter, scholarship in the Western world was based on the reading of texts by the greats of earlier times, and philosophers generally aligned themselves in schools of thought that were either Aristotelian or Platonic. The Platonists claimed that Plato's account of Atlantis was straight history, while Aristotelians took the opposite point of view and maintained that the lost continent was pure myth. (The Aristotelians were wrong).

Even so, it was easy enough to believe that a mysterious land might once have existed in the vastness of the Atlantic...When the New World burst upon the European consciousness, the Americas quickly became the prime candidates for the location of Atlantis...The English poet William Blake believed that the Atlantean king Albion led the last of his subjects to Britain, where they became Druids. Ancient Egyptians, Goths, and Scythes were all seen to be escapees from doomed Atlantis...

And a river went out of Eden to water the garden, and from thence it parted and became into Four heads... (Genesis 2:10-14).

And a river went out of Eden

"Now the garden was watered by One river which ran round about the whole earth, and it was parted into Four parts. And Phison, which denotes a multitude, running into India, makes its exit into the sea, and is by the Greeks called Ganges. (Thus the teachings of Adam/Manu found there way into the entire structure of Vedic philosophy).

Euphrates also, as well as Tigris, goes down into the Red Sea (which we shall see, according to this purely apocryphal, but factual account of the four rivers, eventually becomes the Pacific Ocean, as well as all the other oceans of the world. For the Red Sea is where the great Red Serpent lives, and this creature comprises all the peoples and nations that inhabit the body of the great Continent, Leviathan). Now the name Euphrates, or Prath, denotes either a dispersion, or a Flower; By Tigris, or Diglath, is signified what is swift with narrowness (as these mysteries being swept through the narrow place at the center of the Oracle, from West to East in those ancient times)…

And Geon runs through Egypt, and denotes what arises from the East, which the Greeks call Nile." Josephus's Antiquities I.I.3.

All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again...(Ecclesiastes 1:7...KJV).

And the Lord shall bring thee into (the original) Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake unto thee, Thou shalt see it no more again; and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy (redeem) you...(Deuteronomy 28:68).

And unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again...(Ecclesiastes 1:1-7).

SECRETS OF THE GREAT PYRAMID

TIME-LIFE: Since the time of the ancient Greeks, people have gazed at this sole survivor of the ancient world's seven wonders and asked questions they could not answer. Why was it built? If it was a tomb, as conventional wisdom has generally supposed, why were no symbols or possessions of royalty--much less a royal corpse--ever found? If it was not a tomb, what was it?...

...How, given the building techniques of the day, could one explain the astonishing precision of its construction, its near-perfect alignment to the points of the compass, the exquisite accuracy of its masonry? If the pyramid's design incorporates advanced mathematical and astronomical knowledge, as many investigators believe, how did its builders acquire such wisdom so far in advance of other civilizations? Could the enigmatic structure even harbor some sort of mystical powers beyond the realm of conventional science?

"Dost thou speak of statues (images), Thrice Majestic?

Yes, of the statues, Asclepios...Of what else shall I speak but of statues, so full of life, of feeling...the prophetic statues which predict the future by bestowing dreams and by all manner of other ways...Are you not aware O Asclepios, that Egypt is the image of heaven, or rather that it is the projection below of the order of things above? If the truth must be told, this land is indeed the Temple of the world.

Nevertheless, since sages ought to foresee all things, there is one thing you must know; a time will come when it will seem that the Egyptians have adored the gods so piously in vain, and that all their holy invocations have been barren and unheeded. Divinity will quit the earth and return to heaven, forsaking Egypt, its ancient abode...In those days religious men will be thought mad; impious men will be hailed as sages; savage men will be deemed valiant, and evil-hearted men will be applauded as the best of men...

And thus God is above the summit of heaven, yet everywhere present and beholding all things. For beyond the heaven is a sphere without stars, transcending all corporate things...And to those whom it shall be given to dominate the earth shall be sent forth and established at the extremity of Egypt, IN A CITY BUILT TOWARD THE WEST, whither by sea and by land, shall flow all the race of mortals." More than a few archeologists, astronomers, religious scholars, and amateur pyramid enthusiasts have argued such questions through the centuries. While archeologists focus on the structure purely as a historic artifact, other investigators have usually fallen into three schools of thought. The first, and most common, holds that the pyramid represents a universal system of measurement, that its very dimensions embody archetypal measures of length and even time. A splinter group of nineteenth-century pyramid students founded the second school, focusing on the structure's extraordinary properties as a gigantic sundial and an astronomical observatory. These so-called archeostronomers made a strong case that the pyramid builders, whoever they were, had an awareness of astronomy and the earth's dimensions far superior to anything previously imagined....Still others have accounted for the mathematical wisdom the structure supposedly embodies by imagining that its builders came from lost Atlantis...The pyramid itself maintains a stubborn silence. It has never been completely explored nor completely explained...

Egyptologists have drawn on their knowledge of Egyptian religion to explain the significance of the pyramid shape, contending that it could have been connected with Sun worship. The angled walls, they say, resembled the outspread rays of the sun descending earthward FROM A CLOUD, and the pyramid thus represents A STAIRWAY TO THE HEAVENS. Some students of the ancient Egyptian Book of the Dead...even maintain that the pyramid provided more than merely figurative passage to celestial realms. (continued)...

Joseph A. Seiss, in his The Great Pyramid, A Miracle in Stone, says:

"Canvassing the whole problem in light of history, religion, and science, he (John Taylor) came to some very surprising conclusions involving an altogether new departure in Pyramid investigations, and enunciating a number of facts with regard to the mathematical features of the Great Pyramid, which once were ridiculed, but are now generally admitted as true. In 1859 he published a volume, in which he proposed to recover 'a lost leaf in the world's history,' and gave his processes and the results. Without having seen the Great Pyramid, but on the basis of facts recorded by others, he gave it as his theory and conviction that the real architects of this edifice were not Egyptians, but those of quite another faith and branch of the human family, who, by an impulse and commission from heaven, and by the special aid of the Most High, induced and superintended the erection of the mighty structure, as a memorial for times long after, to serve as a witness of inspiration, and of the truth, and purposes of God, over against the falsities and corruptions of a degenerate and ever degenerating world. In other words he claimed to find, in the shape, arrangements, measures, and various indications of the Great Pyramid, an intellectuality and numerical knowledge of grand cosmological phenomena of earth and heaven, which neither Egypt nor any of the nations possessed, or could even understand, from a thousand years ago, back to the origins of the nations. (p.33)...

From this also (the Pyramid) would seem to have its name. Though different authors have sought to derive this word from the Greek, Arabic, and other sources, the evidence is rather that it came directly from the builders of the edifice, and was meant to describe it in the common language then used in the country. The nearest to that language is Coptic. And in Coptic 'pyr' means 'division,' the same as 'peres' in Daniel's interpretation of the handwriting on the wall; and 'met' means 'Ten.' Chevalier Bunsen without thought of combining them for the derivation of the word Pyramid, gives these words separately...And putting them together--Pyr-Met--we have the name given to this structure. And that name in the language of the ancient Egyptians means The Division of Ten. (The Division of the Great Mandala of the Tree of Life--East and West). (p.46).

Accordingly a system of FIVENESS runs through the Great Pyramid. The intense Fiveness could not have been accidental, and likewise corresponds with the Nature of God, both in nature and revelation. Note the Fiveness of termination to each limb on the Human Body, the Five senses, and the Five books of Moses...And at High Noon the Sun shines on all Five of its corners. (pp. 47-49).

There is still a more distinct reference to the Great Pyramid in the Book of Job, 'Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge? Gird up thy loins like a man, for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me. Where wast thou when I layed the Foundations of the earth? Declare if thou knowest? Or who hath laid the measures, or who hath stretched a line upon it? Whereupon are the foundations fastened...or who hath layed the cornerstone thereof, when the Morning Stars sang together?'" (Job 38:1-7). (pp.114,15).

THE PYRAMID, JERUSALEM, AND THE DRAGON.

"If this Pyramid is what it would seem to be, it would be natural to infer that it ought to have some connections with or reference to Jerusalem. All the institutions and revelations of God had their chief center there for more than a thousand years. God made it His own sacred metropolis, the only one He ever had localized on earth. There His only Temple stood. There His holy laws were deposited. Thither His people were required to come for the celebration of their most distinguished services. There was the royal seat of His chosen kings. There was the sacred capitol of His consecrated priests, of His inspired prophets, of His holy scribes. There the glorious Messiah presented himself to the elect nation. There he died for the sins of the world...And if the Great Pyramid belongs at all to the great system of God's redemptive interpositions, it could hardly be wanting in some reference to that 'City of the Lord, the Zion of the Holy One of Israel.' (pp.166,67)...

While Seiss was establishing some geometric connections between the Great Pyramid and that city of Jerusalem in the East (that city which Moses built of stone below, as a replica of the greater mystery Above), he unknowingly adds:

From the earliest known times different portions of the heavens have been designated, and known by certain figures supposed to be outlined by the stars which they embrace. There are about eighty of these constellations. The stars of which they are composed the Bible declares to be for 'signs'`as well as for seasons, days, and years. The probability is that the earlier and more remarkable designations were made by God Himself even before the Flood. Josephus attributes the invention of the constellations to the family of Seth, the son of Adam...Origen affirms that it was asserted in the Book of Enoch that in the time of the patriarchs the constellations were already divided and named. Volney informs us that everywhere in antiquity there was a cherished tradition of an expected conqueror of the Serpent, and asserts that this tradition is reflected in the constellations as well as in all the heathen mythologies...It is impossible to doubt that astronomy was invented from the beginning of the world; history, profane as well as sacred, testifies to this truth...They suppose the originators to have lived in about the Fortieth degree of North latitude (or just above the site of the ancient garden)...

The Constellation Draco, The Dragon, situated at the center of the heavens.

One of the oldest and most universal of these constellations is The Dragon, of Great Serpent. The chief star in that group (Draconis) is situated in the monster's tail. AND TO THAT STAR THE ENTRANCE PASSAGE OF THE GREAT PYRAMID WAS LEVELED. Draconis, then, looked right down that inclined tube to the bottomless pit. Mankind marching down that passage would therefore be moving under the sign and the dominion of the Dragon, Hence the words of Ezekiel:

They are delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit...This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord God...(Ezekiel 31:14-18).

The tokens that are now judgments are laid to the line, and righteousness to the plummet, that every cover might be lifted, and every refuge of lies be swept away...At the same time Draconis will again be on the meridian beneath the pole, but then just Seven times lower than at the time of the pyramid's building. THIS FINAL DOWNWARDNESS OF SEVEN TIMES IS STRIKINGLY SUGGESTIVE OF THE DRAGON'S COMPLETE DETHRONEMENT. And what is still more remarkable, while Draconis is on the meridian at this low point, Aries, the Ram, appears on the meridian above, with the line passing exactly through his horns. A MORE VIVID ASTRONOMICAL SIGN OF THE OVERTHROW OF SATAN UNDER THE DOMINION OF THE PRINCE OF THE FLOCK IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CONCEIVE. It is as if the very heavens were proclaiming that then the everliving Lamb takes to him his Great Power, and enters upon his glorious reign." (pp.140-153).

TIME-LIFE CONTINUED: According to Hall, the building was a secret temple where the elect underwent a mystic ritual transforming them into gods. The initiates would lie FOR THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS within the pyramid while their ka--the soul or essence--left their bodies and entered "the spiritual spheres of space." In the process, the candidates "achieved actual immortality" and became godlike. (Psalm 82:6-8; John 11:25,26)....

Pyramidologists still voice familiar, sweeping themes of prophecy and revelation. Writer Max Toth has proclaimed that only the discovery of a secret room stands between twentieth-century man and the "Masters of the Mysteries," who are silently waiting to "recloth him in the vestments of truth."

OtHer visionaries have seen the pyramid as the missing link between recorded history and Atlantis. Manly P. Hall, an enthusiastic student of ancient religions, has proposed that the most gifted scientists in the highly developed civilization of Atlantis, aware that disaster was imminent, fled to Egypt and built the pyramid as a repository for both their learning and their treasure. By concealing their wisdom in the pyramid, Hall suggested, that advanced Atlanteans made certain that only those who were worthy would discover and understand it.

However fanciful Hall's thesis may be, the pyramid's secrets are elusive, despite the best efforts of traditional scienctists and the far-from-traditional pyramidologists. Whatever we try to make of it, we cannot ignore the Great Pyramid's presence..."It is enormous; it is ancient; it is legendary; it is sophisticated; it is the result of great enterprise; it is here for all the world to see at the crossroads of the earth--and it does not seem to belong to our world."
