And it shall come to pass when all is accomplished that was to come to pass in those parts…THAT MESSIAH SHALL BEGIN TO BE REVEALED.

Then thou didst preserve TWO LIVING CREATURES, BEHEMOTH AND LEVIATHAN, and Thou didst separate the one from the other, for the Seventh part (at the end of days) where the waters were gathered together (see Revelation 17:15) was unable to hold them both.

Thou didst give Behemoth one of the parts which had been dried up on the third day to dwell in, that namely where there are a Thousand Hills (see Psalm 50:10). But unto Leviathan thou gave the Seventh Part, namely the moist, and Thou hast reserved them to be devoured by whom Thou wilt and when... (4 Ezra VI.49-52; 2 Esdras 6:49-52), (KJV).

By His Spirit he hath garnished the heavens, HIS HAND HATH FORMED THE CROOKED SERPENT.

Lo, these are the parts of his ways, but how little portion is heard of him? But the Thunder (Thor) of His Power who can understand?... (Job 26:13,14).

Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days which ye will not believe, though it be told (or shown) you... (Habakkuk 1:5; Acts 13:40,41).

"The teacher recites, or rather sings, as he interprets 'Akdomos'. King David descended from Ruth and Boaz, and from David's seed it is believed will come the messiah. In 'Akdomos' is presented vividly a picture of the day when the Messiah will have arrived (leading to a) time of eternal bliss on earth.

The students see golden thrones, approached by Seven stairs (or Seven levels of higher consciousness); seated on the thrones are the saints, gleaming and shining like the stars of heaven. (See Daniel 12:3)…There is no end to the joy and the happiness of the saints. They dance in Paradise arm in arm with God Him and Herself. He entertains them (first) with a mammoth spectacle--THE COMBAT BETWEEN THE LEVIATHAN AND THE BEHEMOTH. (These wars are underway at this very present time).

So enthusiastic does the teacher become at this point that his imagination expands and grows, and he paints a picture of the two fantastic creatures that is so clear one would think that he has seen them himself.

Behemoth, he says, eats in one day the pasturage on a Thousand hills; and when he is thirsty, all the water that flows from the Jordan into the Sea makes one gulp for him. The Leviathan, is more Terrible. He encircles the Sea that surrounds the world, lying coiled up with his tail in his mouth. Should he, for one moment, release his tail, then the doom of the world would come." From a Book of Jewish Legends.

"As man was generated in the womb from a 'serpent' and an 'egg,' so was the universe; but the serpent of the universe was the Great Power, the Mighty Whirlwind, the Vast Vortex, and the egg was the All-Envelope of the world-system, the primordial 'fire-mist.' The serpent was the glyph of Divine Will, the Divine Reason, the Mind of Deity, the Logos. The egg was the Thought, the Conception, the Mother of All. (Please see Galatians 4:21-26). The germinal universe was figured as a circle with a serpent lying diagonally across its field, or twined a certain number of times around it. This serpentine force fashioned the universe, and fashioned man. It created him; and yet he in turn could use it for creation, if he would only cease from generation (Not in the physical sense, but in the dark-spiritual sense). The Caduceus, or Rod of Mercury, and the Thyrsus in the Greek Mysteries, which conducted the soul from life to death, and from death to life, figured forth THE SERPENTINE POWER IN MAN, and the path whereby it would carry man aloft to the height, IF HE WOULD BUT CAUSE THE 'WATERS OF THE JORDAN' TO FLOW UPWARDS.

The myth was common to a number of schools, but Hippolytus ascribes it to an otherwise unknown school called the Peratae, supposed to mean Transcendentalists, or those who by means of the Gnosis had 'passed beyond' or 'crossed over.' Thus they explained the Exodus-myth…EGYPT IS THE BODY; all those who identify themselves with the body (the lower, material world) are the ignorant, the Egyptians. To come forth out of Egypt is to leave the body (In the figurative as well as spiritual sense), and to pass through the Red Sea is to cross over the ocean of generation, the animal and sensual nature, which is hidden within the blood. Yet even then they are not safe; crossing the Red Sea they enter the Desert, the intermediate state of the doubting lower mind. There they are attacked by the 'gods of destruction,' which Moses called the 'serpents of the desert,' which plague those who seek to escape from the 'gods of generation.' To them, Moses, the teacher, shows the true serpent crucified on the cross of matter, and by its means they escape from the Desert and enter THE PROMISED LAND, THE REALM OF THE SPIRITUAL MIND, where there is the Heavenly Jordan, the World-soul. When the waters of Jordan flow downwards, then is the generation of men; but when they flow upwards, then is the generation of the gods. Of the countries of Europe, Greece was first colonized by Ophites (Adepts in the mysteries of the Great World Serpent), but at separate times, both from Egypt and Phoenicia; and it is a question of some doubt…whether the leader of the first colony, the celebrated Cadmus, was a Phoenician or an Egyptian. Become not my children, as Sodom, which sinned against the Lord, and perished forever.

"The first mention of Jerusalem in the Bible is probably found in Genesis 14:18 where we are told that Abraham paid tithes to the King of Salem, Melchizedek. (Hebrews, chapters 5 to 7...KJV). Although we cannot know for certain that this is a reference to Jerusalem, it seems likely because Abraham was in that geographical area, and the city's name, Salem, is the root word of the city's later name, Jerusalem.

Later, we are told that Abraham went to Mt. Moriah, just north of ancient Jerusalem, to offer his son, Isaac, as a sacrifice (Genesis 22:2). That mountain was later incorporated into the city of Jerusalem during the time of Solomon, becoming the Temple Mount. The first mention of the city by the name of Jerusalem is found in Joshua 10:1 where we are told that the city's king, Adonai-zedek, led a coalition of kings against Joshua and was defeated in the famous battle in the Valley of Ayalon when the sun stood still.

But the Jebusites must have reclaimed it because it is later referred to in Judges 19: 10 as the city of Jebus. And it was still in Jebusite hands two centuries later when David conquered it and made it the capital of the Jewish nation. The story of the city's capture by David and his forces is recorded in 2 Samuel 5 and 1 Chronicles 11. According to these passages, David decided to move his headquarters northward to a more central location. The city he selected was Jebus, which was also known as "the stronghold of Zion" (2 Samuel 5:7). After he conquered it, the name was changed to Jerusalem, but it was often referred to as "the city of David" (2 Samuel 5:9).

"To write concerning the antiquity of the Jews, who they were originally, and how they revolted against the Egyptians, and what country they travelled over, and what countries they seized upon afterward, and how they were removed out of them, I think this not a fit opportunity, and on other accounts, also superfluous; and this because many Jews before me have composed the history of our ancestors very exactly, as have some of the Greeks done it also, and have translated our histories into their own tongue, and have not much mistaken the truth with their histories. (Even if they did not know they were doing it). But then where the writers of these affairs, and our own prophets leave off, thence I will take my rise, and begin my history…" Preface to the Wars of the Jews.

"HEAVEN…The Hebrew term for heaven, 'Shamayim,' was explained as a combination of sham and mayim (the place where there is water), or esh and mayim (fire and water), and from these two elements the celestial region was made." (Chag.12a).

"The Bible has Seven different designations for heaven; therefore there must be Seven heavens. There are Seven heavens , named respectively 'Vilon', 'Rakia', 'Sheckakim', 'Zebul', 'Maon', 'Machon', and 'Araboth'. 'Vilon' performs no other function than that it retires in the morning and issues forth in the evening, and renews the work of Creation daily, as it is said, 'That stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in...' (Isaiah 40:22). 'Rakia' is that in which the sun, moon, stars, and planets are fixed…'ZEBUL' IS THAT WHERE THE CELESTIAL JERUSALEM IS AND THE TEMPLE IN WHICH THE (GREAT) ALTAR IS ERECTED…and the Great Prince stands and offers a Sacrifice upon it. (Ezekiel, chapters 5 to 9)…Whence do we know that it is called heaven? Because it is written, 'Look down from Thy holy habitation (Maon) from heaven.' (Deuteronomy 26:15)..." "The Jews who extolled the hill of Zion took note of Isaiah's prophecy that it would rise above all others and become earth's highest point. Cryptically, however, some rabbis claimed that it already had that distinction. On the face of it the claim was absurd. Zion is no Everest. It has been argued that they pictured the land mass as convex, a dome rather than a disk. They may have pictured it so, but the explanation does not convince. Seen from Jerusalem, the nearby Mount of Olives is visible higher.

A subtler notion was present here, whether or not the rabbis knew what it was--one of a number of strange things that were nearly edited out of the scripture, but not quite. JERUSALEM'S ZION WITH THE TEMPLE ON IT WAS THE MOUNTAIN OF GOD, BUT THERE WAS ANOTHER VASTER MOUNTAIN OF GOD, and the two were mystically identified, as Enlil's temple in Nippur was identified with his Mountain of Heaven and Earth. Zion, let us say, bilocated. In the Bible, orthodox views have prevailed and the emphasis is nearly always on Jerusalem (That City below in Palestine). But traces of the other Mountain remain…Confronted with the words 'far north' (Psalm 48:1,2), translators have tried various expedients to explain it away. "At Nippur creation was probably assigned to the earth-goddess, but a contribution to the cosmological pattern from Nippurian cosmology is not clear. Whether there would be a connection between the doctrine of the Naval of the Earth at Nippur and the doctrine of creation I do not venture to say…

But if so, the point of the narrative is not that Ur or Harran or Babylon is the Gate of Heaven BUT THAT THE GATE OF HEAVEN IS FOUND IN THE LAND OF ISRAEL…As in the case of the Babylonian temples, we consider the relations of Jerusalem with heaven, with the underworld, and with the earth. In the hierocentric pattern of Jerusalem the temple is, firstly, the summit of the earth. Already in the canonical prophecies begins the idealization of the temple-mountain, which is destined to be exalted above all other mountains to the highest point in the land. We will not delay on the well-known passages in Isaiah, Micah, Ezekiel, Zecharaiah. In the Johannine apocalypse the New Jerusalem out of heaven is a mountain, 1,500 miles in height as well as in other dimensions--EITHER A CUBE…OR OF A PYRAMIDAL FORM, like that of a ziggurrat…In these documents, and the rabbinical traditions which develop the same eschatological theme, THE EXALTATION OF JERUSALEM IS IN THE MYSTERIOUS FUTURE. More surprising, perhaps, are the texts which contain the idea that Jerusalem is in some way the summit of the earth in the present. The culminating point, according to a midrash, is the Sacred Rock (1 Corinthians 10:1-11), which is assimilated to the Stone of Bethel, or the Gate of Heaven; or is it the altar, which Ezekiel had perhaps called the Mountain of God…?

Statements of this kind provoke a question. How was such a notion possible, with the evidence of the senses to the contrary? "JERUSALEM…The name of the city occurs in the earliest history of the city. It is already mentioned in the Egyptian Execration Texts of the nineteenth-eighteenth centuries B.C. in a form probably to be read 'Rushalimum'. In the el-Amarna letters, of the fourteenth century BC it appears as 'Urusalim', and in the Sennacherib inscriptions (seventh century BC), as 'Uruslimmu'. (Homer will call it 'Hierosolyma,' and asign it a significance and a place far removed from Palestine). The early Hebrew pronunciation was undoubtedly 'Yerushalem', as is evidenced by the spelling in various inscriptions and by its form in the Septuagint. As for the meaning of the name, we can assume that it is a compound of the West Semitic elements 'yrw' and 'slm', probably to be interpreted as 'Foundation of (the god) Shalem' (II Chronicles 20:16 and Job 38:1-7). Shalem is known from a Ugaritic mythological text as one of the two 'beautiful and gracious gods,' Shahar and Shalim ('DAWN and TWILIGHT.'), (MORNING and EVENING). Salem, (Peace), the shortened form of the name occurring in Genesis 14:18 and Psalm 76:2, as well as in later sources, also seems to be quite early…" Studies in Antiquities.

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet (see Dan.9:26,27), stand in the holy place (WHOSO READETH, LET HIM UNDERSTAND):

Then let them which be in Judaea (among the Jews in Central Europe) flee into the mountains (the nations):

Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house:

Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days.

But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no nor shall ever be.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened... (Matthew 24:15-22).

For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled... (Luke 21:20-28; Ezekiel, chapters 5 to 9...KJV).

It was also found in the records, that Jeremy the prophet commanded them that were carried away to take the fire (the Wisdom), as it has been signified:

And how that the prophet, having given them the law, charged them not to forget the commandment of the Lord, and that they should not err in their minds, when they see images of silver and gold (in Babylon)…

It was also contained in the same writing, that the prophet, being warned of God, commanded the tabernacle and the ark to go with him, as he went forth into the mountain where Moses climbed up and saw the heritage of God.

And when Jeremy came thither, he found an hollow cave, wherein he laid the tabernacle and the ark, and the altar of incense, and so stopped the door.

And some of them that followed him came to mark the way, but they could not find it. Which when Jeremy perceived he blamed them, saying, AS FOR THAT PLACE, IT SHALL BE UNKNOWN UNTIL THE TIME THAT GOD GATHER HIS PEOPLE AGAIN TOGETHER, AND RECEIVE THEM UNTO MERCY.

THEN SHALL THE LORD SHEW THEM THESE THINGS, AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL APPEAR, AND THE CLOUD ALSO, AS IT WAS SHEWED UNDER MOSES (see 1 Corinthians 10:1-11),

AND AS WHEN SOLOMON DESIRED THAT THE PLACE BE HONOURABLY SANCTIFIED. (Read the whole of 1 Kings, chapter 8).

We also hope that the God, that delivered all His people, and gave them all an heritage, and the kingdom, and the priesthood, and the sanctuary, as He promised in the Law, will shortly have mercy upon us, and gather us together out of every land under heaven into the holy place; for He has delivered us out of great troubles, and hath purified the place...(2 Maccabees 2:1-18).

"They pay no heed to the real hidden meaning of things, but divert themselves instead with all kinds of iniquitous (error)…They do not know the hidden meaning of what is actually taking place, nor have they ever understood the lessons of the past. Consequently they (who make war in the Name of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) have no knowledge of what is coming upon them and have done nothing to save their souls from the deeper implications of present events.

This, however, will symbolize things for you. What is going to happen is, as it were, that all iniquity is going to be shut up in the womb and prevented from coming to birth. (See Revelation 12; Isaiah 66:6-13). Wrong is going to depart before Right, as Darkness departs before Light. As smoke disappears and is no more, so will Wrong disappear forever. But Right will be revealed like the Sun. The world will rest on a sound Foundation. All who cling to (the old errors, and the old iniquities) will cease to exist. The world will be filled with knowledge and ignorance exist no more.

The thing is certain to come. The prophecy is true, and by this you may know that it will not be revoked: Do not all peoples hate wrongdoing? Yet, is it not rampant among them all? Are not the praises of truth sung by all nations? Yet is there a single race or tribe (or nation or empire) that really adheres to it? What nation likes to be oppressed by a stronger power? Or who wants his property plundered unjustly? Yet, is there a single nation that has not oppressed its neighbor? Or where in the world will you find a people that has not plundered the property of another? (And where in the Western world will you not find the spirit of Cain, the Son of Darkness, presiding over the political affairs of the nations)?…The Dead Sea Scriptures, by Theodore Gaster, p.429.
