Chapter XVI

The Remnant

And it was so, when Elijah heard it, he wrapped his face in his mantle, and he went out, and stood in the entering of the cave (at the threshold of the Mystery). And a voice came unto him, and said, What doest thou here Elijah?

And he said, I have been very jealous for the Lord God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away...

(Not so, said the Lord) I have left me SEVEN THOUSAND in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Ba'al, and every mouth which hath not kissed him...(1 Kings 19:13-18; Romans 11:1-6).

The path of the just is as the Shining Light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day...Proverbs 4:14-19).

And the same hour there was a great earthquake (a great shaking of the human spirit), and a Tenth part of the (Holy) city fell (Abraham's tithe...Genesis 14:18-20), and in the earthquake WERE SLAIN OF MEN SEVEN THOUSAND: and (those who were alive and remained) were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven...(Revelation 11:13).

__________

But exhort one another daily, WHILE IT IS CALLED TODAY, lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin,

For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast until the end...(Hebrews 3:13,14).

The Daily Sacrifice...Exodus 29:37-43.

Every sacrifice must be Seven days under the Dam...Leviticus 22:27

Verily, verily, I say unto you, except a corn of wheat fall unto the ground and die, it abideth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit...(John 12:23-25).

"The wise providence of God toward Israel may be compared to the planting of a seed of corn, it is placed in the earth, where it seems to be changed into soil and water, and rottenness, so that it can no longer be recognized. But in very truth it is the seed that has changed the earth and water into its own nature and raises itself from one stage to another, transforming the elements, and throwing out shoots and leaves...Thus it is the way with the world religions. The Law has changed them that come in contact with it. Even though they have cast off the Law...they are a preparation, and preface to Messiah, who is the fruit, and whose fruit all will become when they acknowledge him and all become One Tree." Judah Halevi

The First Death...(1 Corinthians 5:7; Galatians 2:20; 6:14-17; Revelation 1:18...KJV).

But some will say, how are the dead raised up? With what body do they come?

(Know ye not), that which thou sowest is not quickened lest it die;

And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be...

So also is the resurrection of the dead. IT IS SOWN IN CORRUPTION; IT IS RAISED IN INCORRUPTION:

IT IS SOWN IN DISHONOUR; IT IS RAISED IN GLORY: IT IS SOWN IN WEAKNESS, IT IS RAISED IN POWER:

It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body...(1 Corinthians 15:35-45).

__________

The Master explains, that it is not the flesh of bodies that is meant, but the flesh of unrighteousness and ignorance...The Book of the Great Logos.

The Word is sown in dishonor from the Left side of the Oracle, at the place numbered Seven; It is raised in Power on the Right side of the Oracle, at the place numbered Eight...(Romans 11).

Blessed and holy are they that have part in the First Resurrection; on such the second death, (the death of the body itself), hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a Thousand years.... (Revelation 20:6).

__________

The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection: and asked, saying, Master, Moses said, if a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

Now there were with us SEVEN brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and having no issue, left his wife unto his brother. Likewise, the second also, and the third unto the Seventh. And last of all the woman died also. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the Seven? for they all had her.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures or the Power of God.

For in the (first) resurrection they (this first Remnant on the Left hand side of the Oracle) neither marry, nor are given in marriage (they do not partake in the words at Isaiah 4:1,2 and 2 Corinthians 11:1-4), but are as the angels of God in heaven. (They are as the angels of God from above...the East. These Companions of the Right Hand shall also wage war--a spiritual war--against the realm of the Beast...2 Corinthians 10:3-6; Isaiah 52:10).

But as touching the resurrection of the dead (or those who shall rise up in glory on the Right-hand side of the Tree of Life, at the manifestation of the true Messiahs, see Romans 11:12-15), have ye not heard that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? (Exodus 3:6, 15; Revelation 15:1-3). God is not the God of the dead but of the living...(Matthew 22:23-32).

This remnant in our time (assembled around the Left Foot of the Mystery of Christ at the place named Endurance) are those who, in the spirit of the true Christ, are not kneeling to any of the idols of the American nation. They are the first to comprehend the nature of those powers God has raised up in the world in these last days to deliver the people from the antichrists of the earth. They fill up the symbolic number of Seven thousand. Having overcome the Darkness of this age, the illusions of this world, and the doubts and fears that grip the unperfected mind, they are prepared to lay down their own lives in the Mystery of Christ, just as those who lived in the time of John the Baptist were called upon to do. Those in that time were a morning sacrifice, these are an evening sacrifice. (See Exodus 29:38,39; Numbers 28:1-8). Having died the First Death--the death of their old natures, and their old earthly view of reality--they arrive at the end of this age fulfilling the words: The path of the just is as a shining light that shineth more and more unto a Perfect day. (Proverbs 4:18). They fulfill the words which say:

Blessed and holy are they that have part in the First Resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years (not a literal span of one thousand years, but a symbolic number of years--the cube of the number 10--that implies the mind coming to a state of spiritual perfection in our time) ...(Revelation 20:4-6).

They are the true holy warriors of God, the true Muslims. They shall wage the greater holy war against the spirit of Antichrist in the world--against America's continued attempts to conscript the mind of Israel, especially now as the final judgments of God begin to unfold:

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (see Ephesians 6:10-17 KJV), but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds;

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when their own obedience is fulfilled...(2 Corinthians 10:3-6).

The scripture says that these neither give nor take in marriage (Matthew 22:30). This does not mean that the members of this remnant shall not already be found in a married state, or that those of them who are single now shall not enter into a personal state of marriage after they reach the other side--for every perfected soul has its own male or female counterpart in the universe, and this state of balance, this quest for wholeness, for true love, is the driving force in all spiritual relationships--but rather, it refers to the realization that this remnant shall not be alive on this earth as the Nation-church rises up and is joined to God's Anointed Ones (Zechariah 3:8 to 4:14). They will not be here to partake in the marriage between the people and the Messiah(s) as it is written:

And in that day SEVEN WOMEN (a number symbolizing the entire Church of our time) shall take hold of one MAN (this is the Messiahs, see Ephesians 4:13 and Genesis 5:1,2), saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel, only let us be called by thy name (by the meanings inherent in the name D.V.D.), to take away our reproach.

In that day shall the Branch of the Lord be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel...(Isaiah 4:1,2).

__________

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things God hath prepared for them that love Them...But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit...(1 Corinthians 2:9,10).

These Anointed Ones shall appear from the Judaic (non-Zionist) side of the Tree of Life:

"For on the day of the New Year...I engaged in an ascent of the soul, as you know that I do, and saw wondrous things in that vision that I never saw before since the day that I attained to maturity. That which I saw and learned in my ascent is impossible to describe or even relate from mouth to mouth. But as I returned to the lower garden of Eden I saw many souls, both of the living and of the dead, those known to me and those unknown. There were more than could be counted and they ran to and fro from world to world through the path provided by that column known to the adepts of the hidden science. They were all in such a state of GREAT RAPTURE, that the mouth would be worn out if it attempted to describe it, and the physical ear too delicate to hear it...

Many of the wicked repented of their sins and were pardoned, FOR IT WAS A TIME OF MUCH GRACE...It was a marvel that the repentance was accepted of so many you know. They also enjoyed great Rapture and ascended, as mentioned before. (Understand Revelation 12:5).

Thus all the worlds became united and they ascend so that immeasurable rapture and great delight is experienced. You can understand this in the analogy of the rapture of the Bride and Bridegroom in the physical world. How much more so at this elevated stage." The Mystical Epistle of the Baal Shem Tov.

__________

Blow the Trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly.

Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the Bridegroom go forth of his chambers, and the Bride out of her closet...(Joel 2:15,16).

This Remnant on the Left-hand side of the Oracle shall partake in a marriage of their own on the other side of the veil (beyond the matrix, to use a popular term). Like those on earth they shall also be wed in a ritual of pure love: to God and to the sublime realization of the hidden things of God; and, of course, to each other and to all others. In the very same way as those below are joined together one to another, those who have passed into the realms above shall be joined together with all who have gone before them. As below so above. On earth as it is in heaven.

The following is from the Introduction to the Dead Sea Scriptures, by Theodor H. Gaster:

"We are introduced in these writings (The Dead Sea Scrolls) to a community which is conceived as the true and ideal Congregation of Israel, THE SMALL REMNANT that has stayed faithful to the traditional Covenant and that is thereby ensuring the continuance of God's people and the eventual cleansing of His land from the stain of guilt. The Covenant, it is held, has been maintained by a succession of such pious 'remnants.' (Likewise, from the time of Christ to our own).

The members of the community conceived of themselves as repeating in a later age the experience of their remote forefathers (and mothers) in the days of Moses. When they leave the cities and villages and repair to the desert, they picture themselves as going out into the wilderness to receive a new Covenant. What is envisaged, however, is no 'New Testament' in the Christian sense of the term, no abrogation or substitution of the old Covenant, but simply a new affirmation of it. (See Matthew 5:17-19). This is in accordance with the traditional Jewish view that the eternal Covenant is periodically reaffirmed and that the Pact concluded at Sinai was itself but a re-articulation of that which God had previously made, in their several generations, with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

To emphasize this basic idea and to bring out more clearly its sense of continuity with previous 'remnants,' the community is designated in the Scrolls by a series of titles...with significant historical associations. It is described...as 'the elect' or 'rightfully chosen.' in reference especially to the election of Israel at Mount Sinai. Its priests are called 'the sons of Zadok,' in reference to the foremost priestly family in the time of David (cf. 2 Samuel 8:17) and to those whom the prophet Ezekiel had designated, in his visions of the future restored Temple, as the only legitimate priests (Ezek. 40:46; 43:19; 44:15; 48:11). Its sojourn in the forbidding desert is portrayed as exile in 'the wilderness of Damascus,' thereby dramatizing it as the fulfillment of the prophet Amos' prediction that God would cause His people to go into exile beyond Damascus' (Amos 5:27)...

Just as there is a Higher Israel and a greater Judea, there is a higher Syria...(Deuteronomy 26:1-11...KJV).

...And it regards itself as the militia of God--a kind of Salvation Army--ready, like its ancestors under Moses and Joshua, to do battle for His name and to drive out the heathen from His land--in this case, from the whole earth (...It even drew up an elaborate plan of campaign for 'Armageddon).

There is, however, one critical difference between this community and its remote prototype: it is not waiting to receive the Law; it already possesses it. Its aim is simply to assert that Law, to deliver it from the realm of darkness in which it had become engulfed. The Torah--that is, the Divine Teaching (or Guidance) as revealed to Moses--has, it is held, been successively garbled and perverted by 'fallen expositors.' (See Hebrews 6, and 2 Peter 2). The community's main purpose is to exemplify and promulgate the true interpretation. It bases that interpretation on a kind of 'apostolic succession,' begun by the prophets and continued by a series of inspired leaders, each of whom is known as 'the correct expositor,' or 'right teacher'...that is, the orthodox expounder of the Word. The 'right teacher' was probably in every case a priest, his title being being derived from Moses' farewell blessing upon the priestly tribe of Levi: 'They have observed Thy word and kept Thy covenant. They shall teach Jacob Thine ordinances, and Israel Thy Law. (Deuteronomy 33:9-10).

Just as Israel has been led of old by these prophets and teachers, so, it is held, a new Prophet and a new Teacher (perhaps one and the same person) will arise at the end of the present era to usher in the Golden Age, when the scattered hosts of Israel will be gathered in, a duly anointed high priest and a duly anointed king (the Messiahs anointed of Aaron and Israel) installed, and 'the earth filled with the knowledge of the Lord like the waters which covered the sea.' The concept is derived directly from the words of Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15-18: 'The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken...The Lord hath said unto me...'I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.'...

But even if the Torah be correctly expounded by a prophet and teacher, men, it is held, can and will receive it only if they be correctly attuned. And that attunement comes--if we may mix the metaphor--through inner 'enlightenment.' The community considers itself, therefore, not only the remnant of Israel but also the specially 'enlightened.' (See 2 Corinthians 4:1-6). Over and over again in the Book of Hymns thanks are rendered to God for 'illuminating the face' of His servants or for shining His light in His servant's hearts. The acquisition of that light, however, is not attributed to any sudden spontaneous act of grace (of course, it is...by those who are enlightened). Rather is it the result of man's own voluntary exercise of that power of discernment which God placed in every creature at the moment of creation. (Genesis 1:16,17; Leviticus 1:1-3). All things, it is affirmed--even the sun and moon and stars--have been endowed by God with sensate knowledge, though the choice of using it or ignoring it has been left, in the case of man, to his individual will. (This is not entirely true. One cannot exercise that will unless it is energized by the Spirit...Romans 8:11-30...KJV). If he heeds the gift, he achieves harmony with the eternal cosmic scheme and breaks the trammels of his mortality (this is true). Automatically, he is embraced in the communion of eternal things; he becomes one with the non-mortal beings of the celestial realm--the 'holy ones' who stand forever in direct converse with God.

It is this state that the members of the Qumran Community claim for themselves. This is the ultimate goal of the entire spiritual adventure; the aim and raison d'etre of the Torah and of the disciplined life which it enjoins. They hold that by virtue of their 'enlightenment' they are members not only of a consecrated earthly 'community' but eo ipso also of the Eternal Communion...

And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament: and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever...(Daniel 12:3).

As one of their psalmists puts it, they walk for ever 'in uplands unbounded' and know that 'there is hope for all that is molded of clay to have converse with things everlasting.'

This is not, as all too many scholars have supposed, a mere belief in bodily resurrection or a mere hope for the survival of the soul in some cloudland of bliss. Rather is it the sound mystic sense that, given the right spiritual posture, given the victory over that darkness which is set before them along with the light, man may live even on earth in a dimension of eternity.

_____

It would be a mistake to suppose that writers of the Scrolls and the community of Qumran were inspired only by recollection of things past or that they chose their way of life simply because they were unsettled by political turbulence or disgusted by the venality of the Jerusalemitan priests (and now the American religious establishment). They were swept also by other winds. One of these was a widespread and well-attested contemporary belief that the cycle of the ages was about to complete its revolution. This belief was based on a conception, which can in fact be traced to remote Indian antiquity, that existence consists not in linear progressive development...but in constant cyclical repetition of primordial and archetypal events. When major upheavals occurred, it was promptly supposed that the cycle was nearing its end, that the Great Year was at hand, and that cosmos was about to revert to chaos. The primordial elements, restrained and regulated at the beginning of the world, would again be unleashed; all things would dissolve in an overwhelming deluge (of war) or be burned in an everlasting fire which rages in the depths of the earth (at the depths of man's soul). THEN THE CYCLE WOULD BEGIN AGAIN; A NEW WORLD WOULD BE BROUGHT TO BIRTH...

The authors of the Scrolls and the community of Qumran lived at a time of such 'cyclic crisis.' It is writ large in the pseudepigraphic literature of the two centuries immediately preceding the Common Era, and its fading echo may be heard in John the Baptist's cry that 'the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.' It was escape from the inexorable cycle, release not from sin but from mortality, that these men were seeking. The desert to which the Dead Sea community repaired was not simply the Desert of Judah; it was also the mystic's Desert of Quitude--what John Tauler called 'the Wilderness of Godhead (Ephesians 1:17-23; Colossians 1:12-20), into which He leads all who are to receive the inspiration of God, now or in eternity.' In that wilderness (of the nations), they would not merely receive a renewal of the Covenant; they would also have the vision of the Burning Bush. Removed from men, they would acquire an unobstructed view of the divine. Thirsting in an inhospitable wild, they would drink the unfailing waters of God's grace. Shorn of earthly possessions, theirs would be the poverty of the mystics--that poverty which Evelyn Underhill has described as 'complete detachment from all finite things.' Burned by the scorching sun, they would see the semplice lume of Dante, the 'infused brightness' of Saint Teresa, and by that light they would not be dazzled. They would achieve an intimacy, a communion wit the eternal, unchanging things, such as one can achieve only in a desert or on a sea. And in this experience they would reproduce and concentrate within themselves the drama of the cosmic circle, THE DISSOLVING OF THE OLD ORDER AND THE BIRTH OF THE NEW. The Dead Sea Scriptures, by Theodor H. Gaster, pp.5-9.

Ten Virgins

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto TEN virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And Five of them were wise, and Five were foolish. (Five on one foot, Five on the other).

They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:

But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

While the bridegroom tarried they all slumbered and slept.

And at midnight (at the darkest hour), there was a cry made, Behold the bridegroom cometh, go ye out to meet him.

Then all the virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said to the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps have gone out.

But the wise answered, saying, we cannot, lest there be not enough (time) for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage (above): and the door (of this age) was shut.

Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.

But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know ye not.

Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh...(Matthew 25:1-13).

When interpreting the Scriptures, one must always think in terms of the relationship between the invisible world and the visible. The bridegroom in this text is the spirit of the Cosmic Christ (the sacrificial spirit of the Lamb of God), as it reappears and makes itself known, not only to the remnant in our time but in the remnant. By the time the unwise virgins come to understand what is happening, by the time the full meaning of the persecutions that this first remnant will be suffering comes to light (even at the hands of religious people themselves), it will be too late. The Door of this age will be shut. (Which is why those in ultra-orthodox communities hurry to be buried before Sundown on the day they pass over). As the next age is being born here on earth (at the place numbered Eight and named Majesty on the Tree of Life), the number of the Fellowship of the Mystery of Christ will be complete in the heavens. (Many in this Fellowship will remain however, to help the Messiahs turn the Great Wheel. Their works will follow them...Revelation 14:13). All of these--from the time of Abel to this very time--shall forever be known as the Sons and Daughters of Light. They shall reign forever in the Universe beyond, as it is written in Daniel 12. Children shall learn of them throughout every future generation, and long to see them as they arrive, each in their own times, in the heaven of heavens through the Door that was opened to them by the Sons and Daughters of Light in this age.

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know...(John 14:1-6; 2 Peter 1:8-14...KJV).

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons and daughters of God. For we have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father, Amma, Mother.

The Spirit itself bearing witness with our spirit, that we are children of God:

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him (with them), that we also be glorified together.

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

For the earnest expectation of the creation (the rest of the world) waiteth for the manifestation of the sons and daughters of God.

For the creation was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who subjected the same in hope.

Because the whole creation also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth together in pain until now.

And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our Body...

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter...(Romans 8:14-23, 36).

__________

Verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the son of God: and they that hear shall live.

For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given the son to have life in himself;

And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the son of man. (Open the Book of Ezekiel here in America, in these last times).

Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves (not literally but spiritually, understand Ezekiel 37), shall hear his voice,

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation...(John 5:25-29).

__________

Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom of God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all authority and power.

For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under HIS FEET.

The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death (see 1 Corinthians 15:54-58).

For he hath put all things under his Feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he (the Lord of hosts himself) is excepted which did put all things under him.

And when all things are subdued unto him, then shall the son also himself be subject unto Him, that God may be All in All.

Else what shall they do which are baptised for the dead (which are initiated into the mystery of Christ), if the dead rise not at all? why then are we baptised for the dead?

Why stand we in jeopardy every hour?...(1 Corinthians 15:24-30).

Let us therefore go on to Perfection...(Hebrews 6:1).

PERFECTION

And the Lord called unto Moses, and spake unto him out of the Tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any one of you bring an offering unto the Lord, ye shall bring of your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock (these terms speak symbolically of the people themselves).

If their offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let them offer a male (an act of potent witness), without blemish: they shall offer it of their own voluntary will at the Door of the Tabernacle of the congregation before the Lord...(Leviticus 1:1-3).

IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO DANCED THE HOLY GHOST DANCE

AND WORE THE HOLY GHOST SHIRT

But the souls of the righteous are in the hands of the Great Spirit, and there shall no torment touch them.

In the sight of the unwise they seem to die: and their departure is taken for misery,

And there going from us to be utter destruction: but they are in peace.

For though they be punished in the sight of men, yet is their hope full of immortality.

And having been a little chastised, they shall be greatly rewarded: for God proved them and found them worthy.

As gold in the furnace She tried them, and received them as a burnt offering.

And in the time of their visitation they shall shine, and run to and fro like sparks among the stubble.

They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people, and their Lord shall reign forever...(Wisdom of Solomon 3:1-8).

IN MEMORY OF EVERY YOUNG MAN (MALE AND FEMALE ALIKE), WHO HAS EVER BEEN BEGUILED (BY COMMUNITY AND CHURCH), AND SENT AWAY TO SERVE IN AMERICA'S (or any other nation's) WARS, AND WHO HAVE NEEDLESSLY SACRIFICED THEIR OWN LIVES IN THE EARTHLY (DEVILISH) INTERESTS OF WICKED MEN

That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons and daughters of God without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the in world.

Holding forth the word of Life, that I (the spirit of Paul) may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain...(Philippians 2:15,16).

__________

I press toward the high calling of God in Christ. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect be like minded...(Philppians 3:13-15).

Studying the oracles (delving the mysteries of metempsychoses/ reincarnation) we see that Paul shall not only be among those who are alive and remain in these times (1 Thessalonians 4:15-18), but that his soul was also a member of this great historic fellowship of the First Resurrection from the very beginning:

I was with you in weakness, and fear, and much trembling...(1 Corinthians 2:3).

__________

We (were) troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be manifest in our body.

For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

So then death worketh in us, but life in you (because of us)...(2 Corinthians 4:8-12).

___________

Without were fightings, within were fears...(2 Corinthians 7:5).

___________

Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God that ye did (indeed) reign, that we might also reign with you.

For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle to the world, and to angels, and to men.

For we are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

Even to this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling place;

And labour with our own hands; being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day...(1 Corinthians 4:8-13).

__________

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we were appointed thereunto.

For verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation, even as it came to pass, and ye know...(1 Thessalonians 3:3,4).

__________

The wicked are not troubled like other men, neither are they plagued like other men, wherefore pride doth compass them all about...(Psalm 73:5,6).

__________

All that live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution...(2 Timothy 3:12).

__________

By whom also we have access by faith unto this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

And not only so,but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;

And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

For when we were without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

But God commanded his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us...(Romans 5:2-8).

__________

In necessities, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments...(2 Cor. 6:4-10).

__________

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the Gospel,

For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak...(Ephesians 6:18-20).

THE SLAYING OF THE INNOCENTS

Beware of the Leaven of Herod.

For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: He knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: THESE FORTY YEARS the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing...(Deuteronomy 2:7).

__________

And the space in which we came from Kadesh-bar-nea, until we were come over the brook Zared was THIRTY AND EIGHT YEARS; until all the generation OF THE MEN OF WAR were wasted out from among the host, as the Lord sware unto them.

For indeed the Hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed. (For those who literally engage in human combat cannot inherit the kingdom of God. They inherit Valhalla [a place in our collective memory], but they cannot cross the Jordan. Their souls, of course, will return to atone for themselves in a future lifetime)...(Deuteronomy 2:14,15).

__________

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity THIRTY AND EIGHT YEARS.

When Jesus saw him, and knew that he had been a long time in that in that case, he said unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming another steppeth down before me.

Jesus said unto him, Rise, take up thy bed and walk.

And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, AND WALKED: and on the same day was the Sabbath.

The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed and walk.

Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed and walk?

And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. (See Joel 3:14).

Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: (make war) no more, lest a worse thing come upon you...(John 5:5-14).

__________

Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, FROM TWO YEARS OLD AND UNDER, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men...(Matthew 2:16).

(40 years minus 38 years = 2 years old and under). While the historical records do not tell of a pogrom against any particular group of pacifists, or Essenes, in the time of this Herod---not until the appearance of John the Baptist and the early Church some years later--this Herod was used by the authors of the Gospels as the type of ruler who was, and still is, completely capable of it. In addition to murdering many of his own family and acquaintances, as his own death approached he ordered that all the leaders of the nation be locked up in the hippodrome, and that they should all be executed upon notice of his death, along with one member of every single family in his kingdom. (He wanted to assure that the day he died would always be observed as a day of mourning). The scriptural account of the slaughter of the innocents is an archetypal and prophetic account, just as Herod is a type of those leaders (psychopaths one and all--no matter whether they be Saddams, Sharons or Bushs), who slay others and slaughter innocents. The two years symbolize the difference in age between those men of war who were cleansed out of the camp of Israel and those--pacifists one and all--who eventually inherited the promise. The text alludes not only to the fate of those who contended for the true faith (the true meaning of the Law) in those times, as well as throughout all other times since then, it also speak of those who went passively to their deaths in the European Holocaust (see Genesis 15:12, 13), as well as of all those who who must still fulfill these words again in our own time, as it is written: (They) were brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers (they) opened not (their) mouths. (Isaiah 53:7; Romans 8:28-36).

And the serpent (the spirit of Antichrist--the Great Self) cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the Woman, for to devour her child as soon as it was born...(Revelation 12:2-15).

__________

When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid...(2 Samuel 22:5)

__________

For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful are opened against me: they have spoken against me with a lying tongue.

They compassed me about with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause...(Psalm 109:2,3).

__________

Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

Their Feet is swift to shed blood (see Deuteronomy 32:35):

Destruction and misery are in their ways:

And the ways of peace have they not known:

There is no fear of God before their eyes...(Romans 3:13-18).

THE RULES OF ORDER

The following are the precepts and the rules of order governing the life of the Remnant in every generation. These rules flow from the Sermon on the Mount, and proceed from the teachings of the Noble Eightfold Path which require of every soul: Right views, Right aspiration, Right speech, Right conduct, Right means of livelihood, Right endeavor, Right mindfulness, and Right meditation. All of these lead to the right perception of reality, the right interpretation of the Law, the right loves and the right aversions, and open up the doors to the eternal dimensions. These are the ways of the Tzadiqqim:

They follow peace with all men...Hebrews 12.

They are wise as serpents and harmless as doves...Matthew 10:16.

They are kind and affectionate one to another with brotherly and sisterly love, honouring and preferring one another above themselves...They are of the same mind toward each other, minding not high things, but humble before those of low estate...Romans 12.

They bear one another's burdens...Galatians 6.

They are kind and tenderhearted toward all beings...Ephesians 4.

They are like-minded, having the same love, and are of one accord...Philippians 2.

They have put on the New man...Colossians 3.

They esteem those who labour among them highly...1 Thessalonians 5.

They accord their elders, and those who labour in words and doctrines, with a double honour...1 Timothy 5.

They let the word of God have free course...2 Thessalonians 3.

They have fervent charity among themselves and all others...1 Peter 4; 1 Cor.13.

They work with their own hands, and do not exploit the labors of others...1 Thess.4; Ezekiel 18.

They feed the flock, not for personal gain (although every one gains who feeds another), but with a ready mind...1 Peter 5.

They advocate for the poor and oppressed:

Is this not the fast that I have chosen (see Matthew 4:1,2), to loose the bands of wickedness, to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke...Then shall thy light break forth as the morning...(Isaiah 58:6-8).

Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy...(Proverbs 31:8,9).

How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Defend the poor and the fatherless. Do justice to the afflicted and the needy. Rid them out of the hands of the wicked...(Psalm 82:8,9).

Thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall...(Isaiah 25:4).

Their thoughts are focused on the Presence of God as well as on the affairs of men:

AND THE SECOND IS LIKE IT

Ye shall go neither to the Left or the Right

"One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law? Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your souls and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments. Matthew 22:35-40.

"And the second is like it." With these words, Jesus went beyond what his questioner wanted to know. He told him too much. He told him that it was impossible to find the center of God's revelation in a single commandment. The second is like it, and is forever the partner of the first.

I suppose that one over-simplified way to understand the pilgrimage of the church over the last century is to see it as a struggle to keep the first and second commandment together. Our culture is embarrassed by people with an unabashed devotion to God; but those who have fervent devotion to neighbor are praised as saints of humanity. So, again and again, the people of God have been confronted by various forms of thought that change Jesus' words, And the second is like it, into the second is it. From the social gospel of decades past to some liberation theologies of the present, the temptation has been to transmute the first commandment into the second. To love your neighbor is to love God. Let us worry only about peace and justice among men; God will take care of himself. By fulfilling the second commandment we will necessarily fulfill the first. Or so they say.

But the second is not the first. It is like it. Preachers began to preach against such secular reductions of the good news. However, rather than returning to Jesus' analysis that the second is like it, they committed the sin which has plagued the church throughout her life...To the lie the second is it, they responded with the lie the second is irrelevant. (Thus the mutual errors of both the Left and the Right).

The second is irrelevant? No! It is like the first...We are bound to find our orientation as God's children in the relationship we have with God through Christ. This is the first and greatest commandment. Our relationship with God is to involve every part of our beings--our hearts, souls, and minds. Nothing which we are or do is to be separated or held aloof from our relationship with God." Grace Fellowship, Mansfield. Ohio.

And he shewed me a pure river of the waters of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was the Tree of Life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the Tree were for the healing of the nations...(Revelation 22).
